Mario de Vega's first solo show in Italy opens in Livorno

exhibition · 2026-05-05

Mario de Vega, a Mexican artist, held his first solo exhibition in Italy at Carico Massimo in Livorno, open until January 9. The project, part of the Cantiere Toscana network, included a sound experiment and took place in the former Magazzini Generali and the Deposito dei Beni Culturali on via Capocchi, opened for the first time. Cantiere Toscana emerged from the Laboratorio Toscano, which was initiated after the 2015 Forum dell'arte contemporanea italiana at Centro Pecci in Prato. The network aims to strengthen the Italian contemporary art system through workshops, residencies, talks, and new productions. Other activities include a free winter school at Fondazione Jorio Vivarelli in Pistoia starting November 25, with sessions by Vincent Normand, Anni Raw, and Alberto Garutti, and workshops by Radical Intention, ALAGroup, and Luca Vitone.
