Mario Cucinella-designed Centro Arti e Scienze Golinelli opens in Bologna with 'Imprevedibile' exhibition

On October 11, 2017, the Centro Arti e Scienze Golinelli opens in Bologna, designed by architect Mario Cucinella and his team for the Fondazione Golinelli. The building is a 30x20 meter parallelepiped, 8 meters high, featuring a closed volume and an external metal superstructure with small terraces offering city views. This completes the Opificio Golinelli, a national-level educational and cultural center launched two years earlier. Cucinella, curator of the Italian Pavilion at the 16th Venice Architecture Biennale, stated that the pavilion revives the link between architecture and art. The opening exhibition, 'IMPREVEDIBILE, essere pronti per il futuro senza sapere,' runs until February 4, 2018. Curated by Giovanni Carrada (science) and Cristiana Perrella (art), inspired by collector Marino Golinelli, it features works by Pablo Bronstein, Tomas Saraceno, and Ai Weiwei across six sections. The exhibition is the seventh in a series exploring contemporaneity since 2010. Additionally, in May 2017, Cucinella's team presented five buildings in earthquake-stricken areas of Emilia Romagna, including the Casa della Musica in Pieve di Cento, inaugurated by President Sergio Mattarella.
