Mario Cucinella Architects to Design Mixed-Use Hub with Public Art in Rome's Aurelio District
Techbau S.p.A. has commissioned Mario Cucinella Architects to design a mixed-use development in Rome's Aurelio district, at Via del Crocifisso. The project includes a student/hotel with 400 rooms, restaurants, a gym, a congress center, a supermarket, and a parking lot, plus a public square and garden. The Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea (GNAMC) is collaborating on a call for young artists aged 18-35, titled "Connessioni Urbane," to create interventions on a wall separating the complex from the Roma San Pietro railway tracks. Works must be completed by September 1, 2026, with submissions due by December 9, 2025. A sculpture by Floriano Bodini, "Volo di colombe," will be placed in the square. GNAMC director Cristiana Mazzantini stated the museum is enthusiastic about contributing to urban redevelopment and involving young artists.
