Marinella Senatore's WE the KIDS Performance in Piazza San Marco

Marinella Senatore staged a large-scale social practice performance in Venice's Piazza San Marco, involving over a thousand children from Italian primary schools. The event was the sixth installment of Kids Creative Lab, a project by the Collezione Peggy Guggenheim and OVS. Titled "Scendi in piazza con WE the KIDS," the performance featured music by composer and pianist Emiliano Branda and choreography by the collective ESPZ (Elisa Zucchetti and Nandhan Molinaro). The children wore colorful costumes and enacted the principles of WE the KIDS, aiming to foster growth and awareness in the community through education and play. The performance is rooted in Senatore's School of Narrative Dance, founded in 2013, which promotes "horizontal education" and emancipation through choreography and body movement. Tutorials and videos provided exercises balancing pedagogy and freedom. The flash mob was part of a larger project involving 1.8 million children, 66,000 classes, and 8,000 schools nationwide, making it Senatore's largest social practice work. Supported by the City of Venice, the performance aligns with the #EnjoyRespectVenezia campaign, as stated by tourism assessor Paola Mar, aiming to raise awareness of respect and critical thinking in the fragile city of Venice.
