Marinella Senatore's participatory performance animates Valletta

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Marinella Senatore, an artist from Italy, is celebrating a decade of her interactive project, The School of Narrative Dance. This initiative has brought vibrant public art to Valletta, Malta, featuring a performance with 80 individuals aged 4 to 65. The event pays tribute to Daphne Caruana Galizia, the Maltese journalist tragically killed in 2017. Dancers showcased a mix of styles, including capoeira, hip hop, breakdance, tango, flamenco, classical ballet, and gymnastics, all set to a varied musical score ranging from opera to pop. Hosted by Blitz space, this performance is part of the exhibition Something About You, running until July 28, 2022, which features Senatore's works and her illuminated sculpture at the Casino Maltese. The entire project has engaged over 6 million participants across 24 countries, highlighting themes of empowerment, inclusivity, and creativity.
