Marinella Senatore's 'FESTA!' at Mazzoleni Milan Celebrates 40 Years of the Gallery

exhibition · 2026-03-24

Mazzoleni gallery in Milan is marking its 40th anniversary with a solo exhibition by Italian artist Marinella Senatore, titled 'FESTA!'. The show, on view until June 27, 2026, presents a new body of work including embroidered tapestries, drawings, and sketches. Senatore's practice treats art as a participatory celebration, drawing on 17th- and 18th-century public festivities. The tapestries, from her series 'The Theatre of Commons' (2025-2026), feature Baroque-inspired scenes with gold surfaces, floral patterns, and silhouettes. They were produced in collaboration with the Chanakya School of Craft in Mumbai, India, which trains women in embroidery, teaching over 300 techniques and involving more than 1,000 women to date. The exhibition also includes intimate graphite drawings that offer personal reflections on tradition and landscape, displayed in a separate room. Senatore previously showed at Mazzoleni's Turin and London spaces in 2021 and 2022, but this is her first exhibition at the Milan venue.
