Marina Tabassum's 'A Capsule in Time' Opens as 2025 Serpentine Pavilion

architecture-design · 2026-04-19

The 2025 Serpentine Pavilion will be launched with 'A Capsule in Time,' designed by Marina Tabassum, marking the 25th iteration of this architectural project. This structure, inspired by South Asian Shamiyana tents and the Bengal delta, consists of four wooden capsules, one of which is mobile. Set to take place at Serpentine South in Kensington Gardens, London, the Park Nights program will run from June 6 to October 26, 2025. Tabassum's creation follows previous experimental pavilions by Sumayya Vally (2021), Theaster Gates (2022), and Lina Ghotmeh (2023). Established in 2005, her firm, Marina Tabassum Architects, is recognized for notable works like the Khudi Bari and Bait ur Rouf Mosque, which received the Aga Khan Award in 2016. The Pavilion embodies themes of cultural continuity and environmental vulnerability.
