Marina Paris's Spatial Transformations at Accademia di Belle Arti di Macerata

exhibition · 2026-04-27

The exhibition "Trasformare lo spazio" at Accademia di Belle Arti di Macerata presents ten years of Marina Paris's work on the transformation of space. Born in Sassoferrato in 1965, Paris treats space as a living, pulsating organ altered by time, humans, and its own essence. The show spans four rooms. In "Urban Fragments" (2019), she uses collages of old postcards torn or overlaid on maps to depict the Italian territory and its metamorphoses. The series "Under Construction" (2014-17) features photographs of the abandoned Casali del Pino in Rome, captured just before their renovation by Fendi. Metaphysical interiors are created through collages of tissue paper and colored cardboards, generating new environments. A four-minute animation, "Less than five minutes" (2009), made with Alberto D'amico, uses Illustrator drawings of photographed interiors sequenced to create an infinite, surreal three-dimensional space.
