Marina Abramović and Chef Enrico Crippa Merge Art and Cuisine in Alba

In September 2017, during the International Alba White Truffle Fair, renowned performance artist Marina Abramović and three-Michelin-star chef Enrico Crippa collaborated on a unique dining experience in Alba, Italy. The event celebrated the presentation of Abramović's video installation "Holding the milk from The Kitchen, Homage to Saint Therese" (2009) at the Chiesa della Maddalena. Crippa, chef at the acclaimed restaurant Piazza Duomo, created a multi-course dinner inspired by Abramović's iconic performances, including "The Onion," "The Golden Mask," "Balkan Baroque," and "Portrait with the scorpion." The latter was reinterpreted as a liquorice dessert shaped like a scorpion. The evening was part of a project by the Ceretto family, winegrowers who annually invite an international artist to Alba and dedicate a gourmet dinner to them. The fusion of haute cuisine and contemporary art exemplified the intersection of culinary and artistic practices.
