Mariella Bettineschi's 'All in One' at Triennale Milano
Triennale Milano presents 'All in One', a solo exhibition dedicated to Mariella Bettineschi, a significant figure in the Italian art scene. The show traces her career through four series of works from the 1980s onward, highlighting her evolving yet intimate feminist narrative. The first series, 'Morbidi', features organza and feathers with embroidered gold threads. 'Piumario' uses organic forms of gold nylon threads fixed with beads to evoke an immaterial aesthetic of femininity. In 'Tesoro', the artist works paper with tar and hot pigment to reveal archetypal meanings. The most recent and celebrated series, which led to a collaboration with Dior for the fall-winter 2022-2023 show under Maria Grazia Chiuri, reproduces female portraits from masters like Raphael, Titian, Leonardo, and Veronese on plexiglass. These black-and-white works are split in half, with the subject's gaze cut and doubled, challenging viewers to reconsider the female role. Curated by Paola Ugolini, the exhibition runs at Triennale Milano.
