Mariela Scafati's 'Nombrar el mundo' at Condeduque, Madrid

The exhibition 'Nombrar el mundo' by Mariela Scafati marks her inaugural solo showcase in Spain, taking place at Condeduque in Madrid. This event reimagines the canvas as a venue for connection through a blend of painting, sculpture, and text. The artworks stem from personal dialogues and include monochromatic canvases embellished with clothing from friends, forming new identities. Notable pieces such as 'Dai', 'Devo', 'Estela', 'Guille', 'Lola', 'Magui', 'Manu', and 'Nico' (2026) defy traditional two-dimensionality, while 'Polleras' (2003-2026) features skirts turned inside out with painted inscriptions. Curated by Marta Ramos-Yzquierdo, the exhibition highlights themes of 'radical friendship' and collective intimacy. Scafati, born in Bahía Blanca in 1973, has previously exhibited at prominent institutions and engages with art, education, and activism. The exhibition is open until July 19.
