Marie Nipper Appointed Director of ARKEN Museum of Modern Art, Succeeding Christian Gether

Marie Nipper will become the new director of ARKEN Museum of Modern Art, starting on August 1. She takes over from Christian Gether, who led the Danish institution for 25 years and built its international reputation while maintaining strong ties to the local Ishøj community. Nipper currently serves as Director of Copenhagen Contemporary, a role she has held since 2018, and previously worked as Artistic Director and Senior Curator at Tate Liverpool. In a statement, she expressed enthusiasm for ARKEN's distinctive architecture and landscape setting, which she described as offering unparalleled opportunities for presenting art. Nipper aims to refine the museum's artistic identity and continue developing its unique potential. Eva Hofman-Bang, Chairman of ARKEN's Board of Trustees, praised Nipper's extensive national and international experience, noting her impressive institutional and curatorial achievements.
