Marie-Louise Sciò, CEO and Creative Director of Pellicano Hotels and founder of ISSIMO, has been selected as the curator for Sotheby's Milan Contemporary Curated auction, following Anna Dello Russo's role last year. The auction boasts the highest overall estimate for such a sale in Italy to date. Bidding is open until July 14, with highlights on view at Sotheby's galleries on Corso Venezia. The international selection includes works by Italian icons like Boetti, Castellani, Schifano, Rotella, Burri, Pistoletto, Melotti, and Fontana, alongside international names such as Andy Warhol, Atsuko Tanaka, and Jean-Paul Riopelle. Emerging artists Robert Nava, Jody Kerwick, and Izumi Kato are offered for the first time in Italy. Top lots include Lucio Fontana's 'Concetto spaziale, Natura' (1967) with a base of €80,000, Mimmo Rotella's 'Serata Eccezionale' (1961) estimated at €130-180,000, Enrico Castellani's 'Superficie Bianca' (1982) at €100,000, and Michelangelo Pistoletto's 'Leggio Musicale' (1962-1975) at €120-180,000. International highlights include Bosco Sodi's 'Untitled' (2011) at €50-70,000, Jean-Paul Riopelle's 'Ailes' (1959) from €130,000, Andy Warhol's 'Hammer and Sickle' (1977) at €60-80,000, and Atsuko Tanaka's 'D1' (1986) at €60-80,000. Young artists like Ghanaian Negyem Adonoo (works from €2,200 to €3,500) and Australian Jordy Kerwick are also featured.
