Marie Lelouche's Unforeseen Spaces at Galleria Alberta Pane, Venice

Marie Lelouche (Saint-Junien, 1984) presents 'Unforeseen Spaces' at Galleria Alberta Pane in Venice, an exhibition blending sculpture, painting, installation, sound art, and virtual reality. The show features two series: 'Failed to Synchronize,' inspired by the Fabbrica Alta in Schio, Italy, where Lelouche used an airbrush on carpet to evoke moss patterns, and sculptural blocks simulating human fingerprints. A dual audio track—instrumental ambient and headphones with voices—highlights the impossibility of complete listening. The second series, 'Out of Spaces,' adopts an anti-speciesist approach, focusing on birds and their communication. Wooden structures reminiscent of wings and Leonardo da Vinci's machines invite viewer interaction, while large canvases show hands and wings, critiquing the practice of clipping birds' flight feathers. Useless gloves with sewn fingertips hang on walls. A VR headset offers a dematerialized space where viewers encounter and interact with the works from a new perspective. The exhibition results from residencies in Schio and Amilly, France.
