Marie Boivent's 'Revues d'artistes' Survey Across Three French Venues

Marie Boivent curated a three-venue exhibition on artist-run magazines, spanning historical and contemporary examples. At Galerie des urbanistes in Fougères, the show featured historic titles from the Bibliothèque Kandinsky at Centre Pompidou, including George Brecht's cc V TRE, the multimedia Aspen, and S.M.S. with works by major 20th-century artists. The selection highlighted the medium's capacity to incorporate concrete poetry (Futura), drawing (Neon de Suro), theory (Art-Language), and détournement (Cloaca Maxima by Ernest T.). At Lendroit Galerie in Rennes, more recent collective magazines were displayed, such as Inventaire, Grams of Art, and Maurizio Cattelan's Permanent Food, alongside Hans-Peter Feldmann's 1979 Image, a single issue of unlabeled photographs. The Cabinet du livre d'artiste in Rennes assembled nearly all issues of OXO, created by Pascal Le Coq, whose production is tied to subscriber count, with each issue including a participation diagram and list of expiring subscriptions.
