Marie-Anne McQuay to Curate Liverpool Biennial 2025
Marie-Anne McQuay has been appointed as the curator for the 13th edition of the Liverpool Biennial, which is set to take place in 2025. This event is notable as the UK's leading contemporary art festival and the first biennial in the country. Currently serving as the director of projects at Arts&Heritage, McQuay previously led programming at Bluecoat in Liverpool until June 2022, where she curated exhibitions with artists like Adham Faramawy and Jade Montserrat. In 2019, she was also the guest international curator for Wales in Venice with Sean Edwards. Dr. Samantha Lackey, the Biennial's director, highlighted McQuay's strong ties to the city. The last edition, curated by Khanyisile Mbongwa, ran from June 10 to September 17, 2023.
