Mariacristina Gribaudi on Managing Venice's Civic Museums
Since 2015, Mariacristina Gribaudi has led the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia (MUVE), tackling the complexities of overseeing eleven museums in Venice. In early 2024, MUVE welcomed Mattia Agnetti as Organizational Secretary and Chiara Squarcina as Scientific Director, alongside a new committee comprising Christine Macel, Angelo Lorenzo Crespi, and Marco Leona. The foundation is focused on achieving economic sustainability, reporting a 13.7% increase in visitor numbers in 2023, totaling over 2.3 million. Local residents enjoy free admission, and neighboring municipalities receive complimentary entry monthly. MUVE allocates nearly €3 million for exhibitions and €4 million for structural initiatives, including the expansion of Museo del Vetro. Future exhibitions in 2025 will showcase works at Palazzo Ducale, Ca' Pesaro, Museo Correr, and Mestre, with partnerships such as the Philadelphia Art Museum.
