Maria Luisa Pacelli Appointed Director of Accademia Carrara Bergamo

Maria Luisa Pacelli, born in Perugia in 1969, has been named the new director of Accademia Carrara in Bergamo, starting December 2024 for a four-year term. She succeeds Martina Bagnoli, who resigned. Pacelli holds a degree from Ca' Foscari University of Venice (1998) and brings over 20 years of experience in art history and museum management, including 14 years leading public museums. Her previous roles have enhanced the national and international profiles of institutions she directed, fostering collaborations with major museums such as the National Gallery in London, the Hermitage in St. Petersburg, the China World Art Museum in Beijing, the Museo del Prado in Madrid, the Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid, the National Gallery of Edinburgh, and the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart. Pacelli's appointment follows the non-renewal of her position at the Pinacoteca Nazionale di Bologna on November 2, 2024, by the Ministry of Culture.
