María Ezcurra's First Retrospective 'Líneas de fuga' at Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil

The Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil in Mexico City presents 'Líneas de fuga', the first retrospective of Argentine artist María Ezcurra, curated by Nuria Carton de Grammont and Fernanda Ramos Mena. The exhibition spans over two decades of her practice transforming everyday objects—used clothing, textiles, shoes, and suitcases—into devices that explore the relationships between body, memory, and displacement. Key works include 'Ni una más' (2003-2026), where pantyhose filled with donated shoes hang from a metal structure, referencing feminicides in Ciudad Juárez; 'Tensión' (2019), a red nylon net anchored by stones; '15 primaveras' (2007), fifteen quinceañera dresses embroidered with names like Soledad and Esperanza; and 'Pájaros neotropicales' (2018-2024), 154 drawings of bird migration routes on recycled packaging boxes. The exhibition is organized around three axes: materialities of the body, cartographies of displacement, and irony as a tool of friction. The performance 'Mesera' is activated at each opening, where Ezcurra serves wine and canapés dressed as a tablecloth. The show runs until August 6, 2026.
