Maria Emanuela Bruni appointed new president of MAXXI Foundation
Effective March 29, 2025, Maria Emanuela Bruni has been named president of the Fondazione MAXXI in Rome. She had been serving in an interim capacity since September 11, 2024, following Alessandro Giuli's appointment as Minister of Culture and Raffaella Docimo's resignation. Bruni, born in 1960, earned her Art History degree with honors from Sapienza University in 1992. Her previous positions include leading the Press Office of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and serving as the cultural policies assessor in Frascati from 2017 to 2020. As the new senior councilor of MAXXI, she intends to promote cultural innovation, raising uncertainty about the future of artistic director Francesco Stocchi, as the foundation's regulations imply a potential director change with a new president.
