Margherita Raso's 'Vizio di forma' at Italian Cultural Institute New York

exhibition · 2026-04-27

The Italian Cultural Institute in New York presents 'Vizio di forma', a solo exhibition by Italian artist Margherita Raso, curated by Chiara Mannarino and organized by Magazzino Italian Art in collaboration with Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimò of New York University. The show features a body of new works, including 'Hoarders', a series of 30 clay urns created during the pandemic under self-imposed constraints: each urn was begun and completed within 24 hours, prompting reflections on time and mourning. The organizers note that Raso's approach, combined with the urn as a symbolic object, evokes concepts of ritual and memory. The metal structure housing the ceramics consists of pre-existing industrial shelving modules, alluding to the inherent failure of accumulation and playing on the dynamic between useful and useless. Also on view are Jacquard loom textiles, including 'Pour une seule nuit (plus d'etoiles)', inspired by a silk damask fragment with a star motif from the textile collections of the Fondazione Antonio Ratti in Como. The exhibition runs until October 22, 2022.
