Marea Art Project Launches Echoing Residency for Sound Artists in Praiano
The Marea Art Project, which has been operating in Praiano on the Amalfi Coast since 2021, is introducing a new residency program called Echoing, set to run from January 15 to February 28, 2025. Among the selected participants are Alexi Shell, Alexis Paul, Hugo Mir-Valette, and Lorenzo Setti, known as ATOMI, chosen from a pool of over seventy applicants. This residency will delve into the sounds of winter while addressing the noise pollution of summer, inspired by local myths and rituals. Shell's focus is on aquatic themes, Mir-Valette examines the electronic memory of the sea, Setti bridges Middle Eastern and Western traditions, and Paul offers a fresh take on the myth of Echo. The initiative, funded by Culture Moves Europe and organized by the Goethe-Institut, will feature public events on February 22 and 23, 2025.
