Mare Karina Gallery Opens in Venice with Multi-Disciplinary Focus
In April 2024, during the Venice Biennale, Mare Karina, a contemporary culture gallery, was inaugurated in Venice, situated between San Marco and the Arsenale. Established by Marta Barina (b. 1993), the gallery emerged from a nomadic project that began in 2020, focusing on showcasing both emerging and mid-career artists, with artworks priced between €2,000 and €10,000. The opening exhibition highlighted painter Jure Kastelic (Slovenia, 1992) alongside performances by Nicholas Grafia, Olga Hohmann, Julius Pristauz, and Agnieszka Szczotka. Upcoming events include Danny Layland's (UK, 1994) first solo show in Italy in 2025 and a special exhibition for critic Bruno Alfieri. Currently, until November 16, 2024, Billy Crosby (Scotland, 1992) presents his Italian debut, titled 'Airplane Mode.'
