Marcos Covelo's 'La imagen Rota' at Galería DUPLA

Galería DUPLA in Santiago de Compostela presents 'La imagen Rota', an exhibition by Vigo-born artist Marcos Covelo. Covelo's work investigates the limits of contemporary painting, expanding into sculpture, installation, ceramics, and textiles. His practice responds to the abundance of images and hyperconnectivity in contemporary society, altering perception. Covelo (b. 1985) is an associate professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Vigo since 2018. He holds a degree from the University of Barcelona (2010) and a master's from Pontevedra (2011), and is completing a PhD in Visual Arts with the DX7 research group. He studied at Coventry University (2007) and Savvy Contemporary in Berlin (2011). Awards include the VEGAP Prize Madrid (2020), Zona C Prize (2017), Novos Valores Prize (2010), second prize at XI Premios Auditorio de Galicia, and the University of Vigo painting prize (2018). He completed a residency at the Bienal de Cerveira Foundation (2014). Solo exhibitions include 'El sueño de Ícaro' (2022) at SVT Vigo and 'O rapto de Europa' (2018) at Zona C Santiago de Compostela. His work has been in group shows at CGAC Santiago, MAC A Coruña, and Museo Centro Gaiás. The exhibition runs until June 26, 2026.
