Marcos Amaro Art Prize Opens Submissions for Third Edition with R$95,000 Award

Submissions for the third edition of the Marcos Amaro Art Prize, a collaboration between SP-Arte and Fundação Marcos Amaro (FMA), are open until February 28. This award, designed for mid-career artists, provides R$50,000 in cash and an additional R$45,000 for the creation of a new artistic project. Eligible candidates must be Brazilian or foreign residents in Brazil, represented by a gallery that participated in SP-Arte/2019, with at least one artwork showcased at the gallery's booth. The selection committee features notable names such as Ricardo Resende and Raquel Fayad. Finalists will be revealed on March 15, with jury evaluations on April 3 and the winner announced on April 4. The winning project will be displayed at Fábrica de Arte Marcos Amaro in Itu during SP-Arte/2020 and may become part of the foundation's collection. Previous awardees include Ivan Grilo and Brígida Baltar. Applicants must submit a form, a portfolio with up to five images of prior works, and a PDF outline of the proposed 2020 project, including budget details, to premio@fmarte.org.
