Marco Vallora's art collection goes to auction in Turin

On March 25, 2024, Sant'Agostino auction house in Turin will auction 80 works from the private collection of Marco Vallora, the late art and film critic who died in October 2022 at age 69. Vallora was a leading intellectual and writer for La Stampa, Panorama, L'Europeo, Il Sole 24 Ore, and Arte, and curated exhibitions including a 2018 show on Dadaism and Surrealism. His collection spans early 20th-century works inherited from his mother to contemporary pieces by artists he supported, such as Carol Rama and Giulio Paolini. Notable lots include a mixed-media work by Rama dedicated to Vallora, a letter from Paolini thanking him for his writings, a portrait of Vallora by Velasco Vitali, and works by Carlo Mattioli, Mino Rosso, Giancarlo Ferroni, Francesco Casorati, Giancarlo Vitali, Tullio Pericoli, Ettore Sobrero, Alessandro Papetti, Leonardo Bistolfi, Vincenzo Gemito, Felice Casorati, and Carlo Levi. The collection will be on view until March 24 at Sant'Agostino's headquarters in corso Tassoni 56, with the auction starting at 3 PM on March 25.
