Marco Taddei and Marco Filicio Marinangeli Release Graphic Novel 'Il Santo'

Marco Taddei and Marco Filicio Marinangeli have published 'Il Santo', an ambitious graphic album released by Tabularasa Edizioni in Rome and Carrara in 2020. The story follows two wandering friars, one young and one old, who leave a famine-stricken land to reach an untouched island, where their faith clashes with the indigenous cult of a different saint. Taddei, a 40-year-old screenwriter from Abruzzo known for his award-winning comic 'Anubi' (2015, GRRRz; reissued 2018 by Coconino/Fandango), wrote the text. Marinangeli, a 30-year-old artist from Fermo with academic training, created the illustrations using a technique of flat color washes in watercolor or ink, then modeling volumes with graded pencils for chiaroscuro. His style blends realistic and surreal hybrid bodies with scientifically detailed natural elements, evoking grotesque art historical precedents. The 56-page bilingual (Italian/English) edition costs €25 and marks the debut of Tabularasa Edizioni, produced in collaboration with Bisso Edizioni in Palermo and Tekè Gallery in Carrara.
