Marco Rèa's 'Silence is' Retrospective Opens at Street Levels Gallery in Florence

Street Levels Gallery in Florence presents 'Silence is', the first major retrospective of Roman artist Marco Rèa, from June 12 to September 2026. The exhibition features about fifty works created between 2013 and 2026, including paintings, works on paper, transformed advertising posters, stencils, silkscreens, and two sculptures produced specifically for the show. Rèa, born in 1975, has spent two decades navigating street art, image systems, and contemporary visual research, with international collaborations including Vogue Italia, Fendi, Disney/Marvel, and Universal Pictures. The critical text by Federica Schneck describes Rèa's work as 'an autopsy of glamour'. Gallery director Sofia Bonacchi curates the project, aiming to bridge contemporary art and urban art. In an interview, Rèa discusses his practice of 'de-branding' found posters, the shift from black to white during the pandemic, and his first foray into sculpture as a natural extension of his dualistic approach.
