Marco Raparelli's 'Tutto quello che si muoveva intorno a noi era il vento' at Ex Elettrofonica
Marco Raparelli's solo exhibition at Galleria Ex Elettrofonica in Rome critiques media saturation and societal numbness through a mix of sculpture, installation, and text. The show, titled 'Tutto quello che si muoveva intorno a noi era il vento', features works that reference Jenny Holzer's phrase 'Protect me from what I want', Steve Cutts' apocalyptic imagery for Moby's 'Are You Lost in the World Like Me?', and a 1977 figure throwing a Molotov cocktail juxtaposed with a modern version absorbed in a smartphone. A selfie installation invites viewers to photograph themselves with a sign reading 'scenography for your selfie', while a hidden message says 'you look shit'. The exhibition includes eight suspended balloon-like heads, evoking Gianni Rodari's tale of a land where heads are filled with air. Raparelli's new book 'Human is a state of mind' (edizioni Nero) will be launched at the gallery. The show runs in 2019.
