Marco Mengoni's Music Resonates Through Trees at Salone del Mobile
At the 2021 Salone del Mobile.Milano, an installation called Resonantrees Performing Marco Mengoni by sound artist Federico Ortica turned 200 trees into acoustic generators. Visitors walking through the forest of maples, horse chestnuts, hornbeams, ashes, golden and red robinias, Judas thorns, ginkgo biloba, apple trees, paulownias, plums, oaks, rowans, and lindens could hear melodies by singer Marco Mengoni. The trees, donated by Salone del Mobile to the Forestami project, were fitted with special transducers that made them resonate with the artist's voice. The installation was inaugurated on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at the Triennale di Milano during the opening of the "supersalone" curated by architect Stefano Boeri. Each tree had a QR code for donations to plant 3 million trees by 2030 to clean Milan's air and combat climate change. After the event, the 200 trees were relocated to Parco Nord Milano.
