Marco Lodola and Giovanna Fra's 'Tempus – Time' at Reggia di Caserta
The double solo exhibition 'Tempus – Time' by Marco Lodola and Giovanna Fra, curated by Luca Beatrice, opened at the Reggia di Caserta in 2018. The show juxtaposes Lodola's luminous sculptures and Fra's abstract-digital painting within the monumental 18th-century palace and its park, creating a dialogue between past and present. The artists, both from Lombardy (Fra from Pavia, Lodola from Dorno), explore time as both archaic recovery (tempus) and analysis of current speed (time). The exhibition follows their earlier collaboration 'LoDoLaFra' at Galleria Centro Steccata in Parma (2017) and their marriage on October 23, 2017. Museum director Mauro Felicori noted the exhibition continues the Reggia's long engagement with contemporary art. Critic Antonello Tolve praised the visual short-circuit between spaces and artworks but criticized the catalog (Skira, 2018) for mixing important names like Gillo Dorfles with pop figures such as Jovanotti.
