Marco Gastini, Italian painter, dies at 80 in Turin

Marco Gastini, an esteemed Italian artist, passed away in Turin on September 28, 2018, at the age of 80 after a prolonged illness. Gilberto Zorio, an artist and close friend, reflected on their time together, while Luigi Mainolfi and Giorgio Griffa acknowledged their 50-year friendship. Gastini was in the process of organizing a solo show with Giorgio Persano for spring 2019, right after Galleria Martano's closure. Born on January 30, 1938, in Turin, he transitioned from analytical painting to a distinct style in the mid-1970s. Curator Elena Volpato commended his skill in converting color into ambiance. His piece L'energia che unisce si espande nel blu (2009) includes neon signs displayed at Galleria Umberto I. Giuseppe Lufrano reminisced about their collaborative efforts, emphasizing Gastini's passion.
