Marco Delogu appointed new president of Palaexpo in Rome

institutional · 2026-04-27

On June 28, 2022, photographer Marco Delogu will succeed artist Cesare Pietroiusti as president of Azienda Speciale Palaexpo, the cultural institution managing Palazzo delle Esposizioni, Macro, Mattatoio, and the Museo delle Periferie in Rome. Delogu, 62, born in Rome with Sardinian origins, previously directed the Italian Cultural Institute in London (2015–2019) and founded the Rome Photography Festival in 2002. He also founded Teatro Argot, publishing house Punctum, and bookstore Oneroom in the 1980s–1990s. The new board of directors, also installed on June 28, includes Manuela Veronelli (lawyer), Mino Dinoi (social entrepreneur), Ivana Della Portella (journalist and writer), and Francesca Barbi Marinetti (producer and curator). Delogu faces challenges including a potential merger of Palaexpo with Zètema, the municipal events management company, and the future of Macro's director Luca Lopinto, closely tied to the outgoing president. Delogu previously criticized the Raggi administration, stating "In Rome I see rubble, but from rubble new ideas and energies can be born."
