Marco D'Antonio's 'La notte dell'Aquila' documents post-earthquake L'Aquila
Marco D'Antonio's photo reportage 'La notte dell'Aquila. Cronache dalla città clandestina' documents L'Aquila between 2014 and 2018, capturing the clandestine life of adolescents who were children during the 2009 earthquake. The project was presented by 'Lo stato delle cose. Geografie e storie del doposisma', an online observatory of social and documentary photography on earthquake-stricken Italy, which has collected testimonies from over 100 photographers. It is on view until November 17 at Forte di Bard in the exhibition 'La città nascosta'. D'Antonio, born in L'Aquila in 1978, founded the association Segni in 2007 and the Casa della fotografia in L'Aquila in 2013. Curator Antonio di Giacomo describes the work as documenting a city never before told through photography, beyond the rhetoric of reconstruction. The reportage follows D'Antonio's earlier project 'L'Aquila anno 0' from 2010.
