Marco D'Agostin on Archive, Memory, and Avalanche at Drodesera Festival
The 38th Festival Drodesera, named Supercontinent2, took place at Centrale Fies from July 20 to 28. Marco D'Agostin showcased Avalanche, which delves into the concepts of human fossils and archives, inspired by inquiries from his earlier work, Everything is ok. His exploration drew on ideas from Jacques Derrida, Jean Baudrillard, and André Lepecki, emphasizing the body as a repository of memory. In collaboration with dancer Teresa Silva, they developed emotional archives that shaped the movements and ideas presented in the performance. D'Agostin also shared insights about his forthcoming project, First Love, commissioned by Anna Cremonini for the Torinodanza Festival, which pays tribute to Olympic champion Stefania Belmondo and reinterprets a race from the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics, highlighting the disparities in production support between Italy and other countries.
