Marco Bettio's 'Amniotica' at Aosta Church Explores Nature and Human-Animal Balance

The exhibition 'Marco Bettio. Amniotica' is on view until March 24, 2024, at the Chiesa di San Lorenzo in Aosta, Italy. Curated by Daria Jorioz and Gianluca Marziani, the show features over 40 oil-on-canvas paintings of various sizes, depicting animals and landscapes of the Aosta Valley. Bettio, born in Padua in 1974, reflects on nature, the fragility of human-animal relationships, and the search for harmony through symbolic fauna like chimpanzees, donkeys, and white mice. The title 'Amniotica' refers to vital fluid and the mystery of life. Marziani describes the work as an 'island of pictorial thought' favoring an arcadian yet suspended gaze. The project includes a video by filmmaker Luca Bich (born in Aosta, 1965) and a catalog published by Tipografia Valdostana with texts by the curators and artist.
