Marco Bertozzi's 'L'Italia di Fellini' Deconstructs the Director's Myth

Marco Bertozzi, a film academic hailing from Rimini, released 'L'Italia di Fellini. Immagini, paesaggi, forme di vita' (Marsilio Editori, 2021, €20), which examines Fellini's films within various geographical, historical, political, and psycho-anthropological frameworks. As the compiler of 'Bibliofellini' and a member of the design committee at the Museo Internazionale Federico Fellini, Bertozzi seeks to dismantle stereotypes to uncover a more 'genuine' representation of Fellini's universe. The book discusses settings from 'Amarcord', 'La Dolce Vita', and 'La Voce della Luna', with a particular emphasis on Cinecittà's Studio 5. It also delves into Fellini's connections with actors like Marcello Mastroianni and Donald Sutherland, as well as collaborators such as Rota and Pasolini. His interactions with psychoanalyst Ernst Bernhard in 1960 greatly influenced Fellini's dream recordings. The preface is authored by David Forgács, accompanied by illustrations from Davide Minghini.
