Marco Bagnoli Opens New Atelier in Montelupo Fiorentino

exhibition · 2026-05-05

Artist Marco Bagnoli inaugurates his Atelier in Montelupo Fiorentino on May 5, 2017. The space, designed by architect Toti Semerano in collaboration with Bagnoli, integrates art, architecture, and landscape. It serves as a studio, exhibition space, warehouse, archive, and co-working area, also housing the association Spazio x Tempo, which promotes art-business-territory interaction. The opening exhibition, Apertura, curated by Pier Luigi Tazzi, surveys Bagnoli's career from the mid-1970s onward, including his participation in Documenta (1982, 1992) and the Venice Biennale (1982, 1997), and shows at Centre Pompidou and De Appel. The exhibition is designed as a temporary, evolving installation of works, documents, and photographs. The inaugural evening features a tribute to composer Michael Galasso (died 2009), with a performance of an unpublished score conducted by Giuseppe Scali. Bagnoli, born in Empoli in 1949, has been a central figure in Italian contemporary art.
