Marco Abrate's 'The End of Pink' Performance Funeral at Turin's Ex-Cemetery

On October 31, 2025, artist Marco Abrate (born 1996, Turin) will stage 'The End of Pink,' a performance funeral at the ex-cimitero di San Pietro in Vincoli in Turin, Italy, to conclude his nine-year Mr. Pink cycle. The cemetery, designed by architect Francesco Valeriano Dellala di Beinasco in 1777, was Turin's first and was restored in 1988 for cultural events. Abrate's Mr. Pink persona originated from a 2017 media error that misnamed his works, which he later adopted. The performance, supported by Giubileo Torino, will feature a coffin and flowers, with the color pink disappearing and transforming over two hours. Abrate chose the venue after being suggested by Accademia Albertina, preferring Turin over Milan. He collaborated with the Banana Killers duo in Montreal for videos. Following the event, Abrate will travel to Shanghai for a residency to continue his 'walls' series on cement and plaster, with a future solo show planned there. The artist views the funeral as a meditation on endings in the digital age, emphasizing that art should maintain awareness of finitude.
