Marcelo Jácome's 'Planos-Pipa' Installation Activates Curitiba Shopping Atrium

exhibition · 2026-04-23

Marcelo Jácome, an artist from Rio de Janeiro born in 1980, showcases his installation 'Planos-Pipa' at Shopping Pátio Batel in Curitiba from September 5 to 28, marking his inaugural trip to the city. Drawing from his expertise in Architecture and Urbanism, Jácome's creations engage with open environments. The 'Planos-Pipa' project has evolved from previous tissue paper collages into sculptural kites. Jácome’s works have been displayed at prestigious venues, including London’s Saatchi Gallery and Art Basel. This installation, covering 400 m² and reaching 25 meters in height, presents his greatest challenge yet. The shopping center launched an annual artist intervention program last year, with curator Eneida Gouvêa Vieira choosing Jácome’s work for its simplicity and accessibility, following a 2018 piece by Jason Hackenwerth.
