Marcello Pagliero, actor in Rossellini's Rome Open City, dies in Paris

Born in London in 1907, Marcello Pagliero was the son of Luigi and Claure Renaud. In 1914, he relocated to Rome, where he completed a law degree. Transitioning from law, he became a critic of art and literature before entering the film industry as a dialogue translator and screenwriter for titles such as Confessione and Anime in tumulto. Pagliero's acting career began in 1943, with a notable role as Giorgio Manfredi in Roma città aperta (1945). He directed several films, including Nebbie sul mare and Giorni di gloria, as well as Roma città libera (1946), which was unsuccessful in Italy but found success in France as La nuit porte conseil. After his role in L'altra (1949), he moved to France and directed Un homme marche dans la ville (1950) and Tesoro nero (1956). His last project was Leon Garros cerca l'amico (1960).
