Marcel Pardo Ariza to Create Site-Specific Mural for BAMPFA's Art Wall

This summer, the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive, or BAMPFA, is set to showcase an impactful mural by Bay Area artist Marcel Pardo Ariza, named 'Art Wall / Marcel Pardo Ariza: Las Frutas del Labor.' The mural pays tribute to the often-overlooked contributions of art handlers in cultural institutions. It's specifically created for BAMPFA's Art Wall, which is a sizable sixty-three by thirty feet and can be seen from the street. This mural will be on display for almost a year. Originally from Bogotá, Colombia, Ariza now lives in Oakland and co-founded Arthandlxrs* with Ambrose Trataris, a group dedicated to supporting underrepresented communities in the art handling sector, while his art explores queer and trans identities.
