Marc Quinn's site-specific sculptures at Sir John Soane's Museum

Marc Quinn presents 'Drawn from Life', his first site-specific exhibition at Sir John Soane's Museum in London, running until September 23, 2017. The show features twelve marble-like sculptures from the 'All About Love' series, modeled after his partner Jenny Bastet with hyperrealistic precision, each figure held by the artist's own arms. The works echo Soane's neoclassical collection and Georgian-era palette. Quinn, a Young British Artist known for provocative pieces like 'Alison Lapper Pregnant' (2000) and 'Self' (1991, ongoing), here adopts a more restrained approach, prompting questions about his characteristic audacity. The museum, a former home of architect Sir John Soane in Holborn, is a multi-floor wonderland filled with busts, sarcophagi, and works by Piranesi, Canaletto, and Hogarth, recently reopened with new galleries.
