Marc Lore's AI Platform Lets Anyone Launch a Restaurant Brand in Under a Minute
Marc Lore, the e-commerce entrepreneur who sold startups to Amazon and Walmart, is integrating AI into his venture Wonder. The centerpiece is Wonder Create, an AI tool that allows anyone—from food entrepreneurs to influencers—to design and launch a virtual restaurant brand in under a minute. The brand then operates across Wonder's network of 120 tech-enabled kitchens, expected to reach 400 next year. These kitchens are "programmable cooking platforms" with all-electric, increasingly robotic setups, capable of running 25 different cuisine types from a 700-ingredient library. Wonder recently acquired Spice Robotics and plans an "infinite sauce machine" for 80% of internet recipes. Lore envisions influencers, trainers, or even Disney using the platform to monetize followings or market movies. The AI handles name, branding, descriptions, pricing, health info, and recipes. Wonder's kitchens employ up to 12 staff plus robotic arms and conveyors. Lore aims for 1,000 unique restaurants per 2,500-square-foot kitchen by 2035, with throughput rising from 7 million to 20 million meals. The model addresses ghost kitchen pitfalls like inconsistent quality, exemplified by MrBeast Burger's failures. Wonder also owns Grubhub and Blue Apron, and recently bought Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken for $6.5 million. Lore spoke at The Wall Street Journal's "Future of Everything" conference.
