Marc Chagall Retrospective at Vienna's ALBERTINA Museum

In winter 2024, the ALBERTINA Museum in Vienna, in partnership with Düsseldorf's Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen, will host a significant exhibition dedicated to Marc Chagall. This showcase will feature 105 of his paintings, including the notable "War" (1964–66), which portrays civilians escaping a burning village. Chagall (1887–1985), who was born in Lëzna and passed away in Saint-Paul-de-Vence, integrated Cubism, Expressionism, and Abstraction into his art. His work often reflects themes of love, childhood memories, Jewish culture, and the human experience. He had influential relationships with artists like Henri Laurens and Amedeo Modigliani. His first major exhibition outside of Russia took place at the inaugural German Salon d'Automne in Berlin, emphasizing his enduring faith and optimism in challenging times.
