Marc Chagall exhibition at Palazzo dei Diamanti in Ferrara from October 2025

Palazzo dei Diamanti in Ferrara will host a major Marc Chagall exhibition from October 11, 2025 to February 8, 2026, featuring 200 works including paintings, drawings, and prints. Curated by Paul Schneiter and Francesca Villanti, the show includes two immersive rooms using projections and light installations to highlight Chagall's large-format works. The exhibition's manifesto painting, 'La sposa dai due volti' (1927), on loan from a private collection, explores themes of duality and harmony. Ferrara previously held a Chagall retrospective in 1992-1993 curated by Sylvie Forestier, which attracted over 180,000 visitors. Concurrently, a separate Chagall exhibition focusing on his fascination with mosaics runs at MAR in Ravenna from October 18, 2025 to January 18, 2026. The Ferrara exhibition aims to emphasize Chagall's humanity, his ability to transform personal experience into universal themes of identity, exile, spirituality, and joy, and his role as a witness to his time.
