MAO Torino seeks 100 lamps for collective installation during Art Week
The MAO – Museo d'Arte Orientale in Turin has launched an open call titled "We need your light," inviting the public to lend lamps for a large-scale collective artwork. The installation will debut in Italy and Europe for the first time during the Art Week in October 2026. Participants must deliver their lamps to the museum on May 17 or 18, 2026, by booking a time slot via Eventbrite. Accepted items include various types of lamps and chandeliers, including antiques, in good condition and without bulbs, with a maximum weight of 15 kg and height of 2 meters. Each person may contribute up to three lamps. The museum may rewire and modify the fixtures for safety, potentially altering them permanently. Lamps must be packed in cardboard boxes with lightweight, inspectable cushioning. Participants are also invited to share the story of their lamp, which may be filmed and included in a video for the exhibition. The loan agreement requires signing a form, and lamps will be returned by July 2027.
