MAO and MUCIV Directors Discuss Museum Challenges and Vision

Davide Quadrio, who has been the director of MAO – Museo di Arte Orientale in Turin since 2022, and Andrea Viliani, the director of MUCIV – Museo delle Civiltà in Rome, engaged in a conversation about leadership in museums. Quadrio, an art historian and sinologist with nearly three decades of experience in China, previously founded Bizart and Arthub and worked at the Aurora Museum. Viliani, who once directed MADRE in Naples, played a key role in the Pompeii Commitment project. Both leaders view museums as vital spaces for addressing modern challenges. Quadrio mentioned MAO's initiatives like The Soul Trembles by Chiharu Shiota and Sonic Blossom by Lee Mingwei, while Viliani pointed out contemporary indigenous art and MUCIV's Laboratorio Neanderthal, emphasizing the importance of decolonization and accessibility.
