Manzoni and Hayward at Sonnenstube in Lugano

exhibition · 2026-05-05

The independent space Sonnenstube in Lugano presents a two-person exhibition featuring Edoardo Manzoni and Tarik Hayward, curated by GIGA. Manzoni, born in Crema in 1993, shows oil paintings that are digital elaborations retranslated into paint, exploring the structure of the virtual within a color system. Hayward, born in Ibiza in 1979, exhibits a large hollow elastic polyurethane tube, smooth and striated like a birch trunk, white and irregular inside. The wooden and oil shell that contained it opened in the gallery the day before the opening, born from a single continuous spray of polyurethane foam, now alive with vibrations from passersby. A small screen, supported by a branch, frames a hunting scene with a rendered dog, bridging the real and virtual. The exhibition runs until October 8, 2016.
