The story is set in late 1990s Berlin and follows the intersecting lives of Teresa, a scientific assistant preparing a major exhibition of Tutankhamun's treasure, and Ruben, a young Italian artist. Their narratives are interwoven with that of Howard Carter, the British archaeologist who discovered Tutankhamun's tomb in 1922.
